The best campsite ever I think… and that’s quite a claim. But this was an amazing weekend in Norfolk for my friend’s 30th birthday… and of course the bunting came too…

A lot of people ask me about waterproof outdoor bunting. Lots of my plain bunting is absolutely fine to hang outside. I take mine camping all the time and it survived even the windiest spot in Wales. However, this is a lovely set of outdoor bunting made with oilcloth and sewn onto a cotton tape. I wouldn’t recommend leaving it out all the time as I’m sure it’ll discolour eventually, but if it’s allowed to dry out fully once it gets wet, then this is the answer for the garden.

I always take my bunting on holiday, but this year in Wales, it got tested to the extreme! The campsite was amazing – Cae Du near Tywyn in Snowdonia. The campsite was right on the edge of the sea with the most amazing views over Cardigan Bay with incredible sunsets, dolphins swimming past and seals… and the full force of a force nine gale! Well, I’m exaggerating, but even a slight breeze feels like a force nine when you’re in a tent! And despite the wind and the copious amounts of rain, the bunting stayed attached to the gazebo and the gazebo stayed attached to the ground – success! So despite our rubbish old tent leaking a couple of times, and leaning dangerously to one side, the holiday was great!

I’m awaiting to hear how this set of bunting will go down with the 1st Debenham scout group down in Ipswich! I don’t want to hope for rain for their big camp, but I’m curious how this bunting is going to cope in the rain!
It’s made from oilcloth sewn onto a cotton tape. And I’ve been experimenting since last year with a similar set of bunting, which has been left outside during the winter. So far, no harm has come to that set, so I’m fairly confident this bit of bunting will withstand a downpour or two!! Although fingers crossed for sunny weather!
